About the WMPSThe Westmount Music Parents’ Society is an amazing non-for-profit organization of music parents and guardians that help raise necessary funds for students to participate in Music. They help organize support structures for the Music Program.
Our meeting dates for the year are listed below. The WMPS uses the Sign-Up Genius application to garner parent volunteers for concerts, field trips and special events. Thurs. New Equipment• Funds raised so far have helped the program purchase a 3 octave set of handbells, vibraphone and new learning resources.
WMPS gave funds to support learning supplies during the pandemic. |
Music Trip Support•Three years ago our junior high students received support to go to Edmonton. Three years ago, each student received support to attend the H.S. Music Trip to Seattle, Washington.
•Four years ago, each student received support to attend MusicFest Nationals in Toronto and the Cantando Festival in Sun Peaks, BC. • Six years ago each student received support from WCS and the WMPS to attend the Cantando Festival in Edmonton and the Okanagan Music Festival in Penticton, BC. |
Commission New Wind Band Pieces*Our Symphonic Band premiered their new commission entitled, Pegasus by Dr. Ilkim Tongur to celebrate the Class of 2019 Music students in May 2019.
• Duane R. Hendricks was commissioned to write Wizards West. Our Symphonic Band students premiered this new work in November 2017. |
